Travel to Toledo

Toledo (pop. 86.070) is located 71 kilometers south of Madrid (about an hour’s train or bus ride) and is the capital of Castilla-La Mancha, the region made famous by Cervantes in Don Quixote.

How do I get to Toledo?

Closest option is to go to the city from Madrid. From there, you have different options:

Plane: If you arrive to the Barajas airport, the Metro station is located at Terminal 2. If you arrive to Terminal 4 (which is the main hub of Iberia Airlines), you need to take a free bus shuttle to change from Terminal 4 to Terminal 2. If you arrive to Terminal 1 you can go to Terminal 2 by walk (5min).
Car: From Madrid-Barajas Airport: In the Airport, you can find several rental car companies, e.g. AVIS, BUDGET or EUROPCAR. The travel to Toledo is less than 2 hours. There is a private transfer at a fixed price (starting from 60€ – 4 pax)

Car: From Madrid 56 min:
A-42 highway following the signs for Getafe, Toledo, R-5, Badajoz. After 65 km on the A-42 highway, take exit 68B towards Toledo / city center, which will take you to the center of Toledo

Bus: ALSA Buses from Madrid (plaza Elíptica) every 30 minutes.
There are direct buses that take up to 1 hour trip or buses with stops that would take 1hour 30 min to get to the city.

Train: AVANT Trains from Madrid-Atocha every 1 hour more or less. Takes 36 min. to get to Toledo.
